We’re following the updates on what’s happening in Syria – we still haven’t given up hope completely but we obviously realize that the possibility of driving through there safely hardly even exists these days. Brian was looking at a map the other day and told me it was a distance of 520 km to drive through the country. “It’s like from here to your hometown” he said. Yeah, well… Driving to my hometown doesn’t include bombs, land mines and people with heavy guns.
Dagens Nyheter has put together a summary on the latest events in Syria (in Swedish) with a lot of background facts too. Just looking at this map doesn’t give us much hope to be able to go there in about five months from now. And it’s obviously sad to see, in general, considering what’s going on and how many people are dying.
